Build an upgraded, modern, aquatic facility on the Kilsyth Centenary Pool site in VIC.

The council managed to find funds to build themselves a multi million dollar eyesore that apparently is half empty. A facility for the people they represent should also be a major priority. We pay enough rates for it.

I'm signing because having a public pool local to my home is important

I’m signing this petition because I’ve grown up with Kilsyth Centenary Pool and it has made me very sad and very angry that the Yarra Ranges Council have demolished it and I want the council to rebuild a modern swimming center on the side of the old one.
Now I have to go all the way to Croydon Memorial Pool in the summer and other times I have to go to Aquanation in Ringwood.

I belive the pool is needed for the local community. I was looking at attending some form of water exercise classes when I retired. Now I can not and will not travel to another shire's pool when we should still have our own upgraded one.

I'm signing because the Kilsyth pools should be upgraded for the kids and families and the older people can have a pool to go to and not have travel miles away for no reason.

I was very disappointed when I heard the pool was to close and definitely want it to stay - it was very popular and much needed.

I want an affordable, local 50m pool back. I don't like croydon facilities. They are busy, expensive and inconvenient

I believe we need a pool in this area, I have lived in Melbourne east my entire life from Mitcham to Mt Evelyn and everywhere in between that. I am 56 and have always chosen to use the Kilsyth pool for its indoor & outdoor and rock pool

Im signing because there should be a pool to service our local people. Children, seniors are just a few of thw community groups that need this for social and recreational reasons

All communities should have access to a pool - it’s life saving for beginners, it’s one of the best forms of exercise for all age groups, an exercise that can sustain all age groups for keeping level of fitness and mental health therapy and meeting place for all age groups to meet friends whether school friends or other age groups - mothers with bubs or older age group to whom socialisation is essential.

I’m signing this because I have been regular swimmer at Kilsyth for years
For the Yarra ranges to close this pool without a follow up plan Is a disgrace to local rate payers

The pool was the best part of our local town , and we all all conned by the council on this matter . They announced that they were shutting the pool for upgrades and that it would re open after repairs , then surprise surprise they shut it down after months of doing nothing and hoping that people would not complain . This is typical of this council and this petition is the best thing ever . Bring back the pool for all the locals and for the sake of our kids and teenagers it’s a huge family asset amd needs to be retained
Thanks Allan westwood

I’m signing as i first swam at the pool 40 years ago it’s a travesty that you let it go into disrepair in the first place. Build a modern swimming pool for future generations don’t be selfish and think of others for a change

I am signing this petition because I don't not believe that the pool should have been closed. I feel that the Yarra Ranges council made the decision without taking into account what the residents wanted.

I’m signing because I’m a resident of Kilsyth, and I’ve always used the pool growing up. All through primary school, it served as a great place for fun and learning, both inside and outside school hours. I would love to see the pool back in its former glory, so that people can exercise, learn, have fun, connect, and have a place to spend their free time doing all of the above

I am signing this petition as we have great use of this facility over it's life time. I believe the Dome was always a temporary measure. We are now in Corowa and we have a fabulous revamped aquatic Centre with a water playground 50 metre indoor pool and out door pools. In this year of Olympics and Australias swimming pride, I find it bad management to get rid of this assert. With all our refugees in the area who also need to learn to swim as well as our children who will be blamed if drowning happens because of lack of learning to swim facility been taken away by this lot of COUNCILORS. 🏊🏊🏊

Because the YR council has not asked anyone's opinion. They knew the pool needed up updating for years and left it. We only have 3 pools to go to:
Croydon which is packed to the brim, Yarra junction and Healsville both of which are half an hour away from Lilydale/Kilsyth.
We need an updated Kilsyth pool!!!

Kilsyth pool should never have been demolished. Rebuild it so local families don't have to drive stupid distances to teach their children how to swim.

I grew up swimming there and I look after children between 1-5 everyday and think it very beneficial growing up with a holiday house near a beach with no life guides made me a confident swimmer

We live close to the centenary pool and would like to still be able to use the facilities. It’s a wonderful venue to support kids to swim and also has the advantage of having a 50 m pool.

This was a fantastic pool and there are very limited options in the Yarra ranges area.

I'm signing because I have grown up using the kilsyth swimming pools and I learnt how to swim there when I was little. It's such a great area to have the swimming pools and it doesn't add any build up of cars on the street with all the on-site parking.

I'm signing because having lived in Yarra Ranges for many years including as a child in Hawthory Road, l can't believe you haven't maintained this large well used pool for the community. Our rates should maintain current facilities instead of letting them go to rack and ruin. Children need healthy outdoor or indoor sports and somewhere to learn how to swim which is a must in AUS. The closest 2 pools to this is in another 2 council areas, which get closed on hot days as they can't cope with the numbers, do better rebuild the Kilsyth pool.

Nicole Jonnes (Olinda, 2024-07-19)

This was our pool - for lessons when the kids were small, for school events when the kids were at school learning to swim with their peers and for squad which they did until the pool closed with LSC and now have to go out of the municipality to train.H3M7

I personally now have nowhere to swim laps . 25 mtr pools are useless for fast swimmers

This was my local pool growing up, it was conveniently located and had incredible facilities that helped me to learn and love swimming. Some of my most fond memories were created here and it pains me that the children of the future won't be able to experience it the way I did and to know how many children in the local area may not benefit from much needed swimming lessons and water activities since other pools are far out of the way and inconveniently located. It also provides many people with jobs, like swimming teachers, coaches and lifeguards.

im signing because my kids have not swam since kilsyth shut. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN A VERY TAKE TAKE TAKE HORRIBLE COUNCIL.
So many schools elderly and kids utilised that pool. I was there when the weather floods took out the spa and rockpool again straight after they were fixed. The drainage was not upgraded. Instead of spending money on useless ugly big buildings and town traffic killing ugly train stations or kid parks next to BUSY ROADS. A decent full sized heated pool would BENEFIT all age groups and SAVE lives in the future.
It is inconvenient to travel to knox it is inconvenient to drive to ugly ringwood.
Croydon is not a good setup, lilydale is summer only and yarra junction is over 40 mins away.
REBUILD KILSYTH POOL THANKYOU.
