I went to that School when it was Bishop Lovett many years ago, so I would like to think that it is still here for future generations.

I’m signing this petition because I believe Oakfield Primary school needs to be maintained in its current form. This is because it provides an excellent education for its pupils regardless of ability, going more than the extra mile. Logistically it has sufficient space to allow for whole Island special needs provision to be incorporated. I think the Local Authority needs to take this into account during their consultation period.

My grandson goes to this school and is very very happy here. He has done incredibly well and now thriving. It would be a shame for his education to be disrupted by moving school.

I believe Oakfield to be a very good school in an amazing location which the children benefit from. I have 3 grandchildren 1 who has just moved up to high school and enjoy ed his time at Oakfield and was given a huge amount of support there. My other 2 grandchildren are in the nursery and yr 2 and I feel they have the right along with all the other children to complete their junior school years at Oakfield. Also how is it possible to justify spending the money to build the lovely new school to now want to close it. The staff and children all need to know their school is safe from closure.

This has not long been done up and is a valued school for the people in the area. I have friends that live there and need that school. Disgusting to think that it’s to be closed!!!!

Pupils deserve to go to school in their community, and in the beautiful buildings that were built for them, rather than temporary buildings at a school 40 mins walk away. Don’t take away this valuable asset from people in need.

This school needs to stay open for the children's sake,I went here and was a wonderful school I have fond memories.

Children should have access to primary school education as it sets the building blocks in order for them to get jobs. Closing down this school is not only doing a disservice to the children in the area, but also will have negative economic implications in the future as you will have a whole area who cannot enter the workforce simply because they don't have an education.

After enough disruption from Covid times this would be just devastating for my 3 girls and all the children and staff!
Moving to a new school for a year then to high school would be awful as these children lost the first 3 years of school as it is!

Oakfield primary is vital to the Ryde community.
Having so many young children trapse across Ryde to attend school in Binstead is shocking and ridiculous.
The staff work so hard to give the children a safe and happy learning environment, to rip this away from them is short sighted and cruel.

I was a supply teacher at Oakfield and I’ve never worked at a school where the staff cared so much about the children. It was clear how much the school was a safe place for the children and the families and supported them in so many ways. It would be doing a disservice to those children and families to close such an important school within the community.

The island needs MORE schools , not closure of schools

I have vulnerable children that I oversee the care of attending Oakfield and the holistic care is paramount. I understand that medina house require additional spaces due to over subscription but as always the council are using a short term resolve to that issue and whilst doing so are intending to tear away essential provision for many vulnerable children and their families.

All my grandkids apart from one have gone to oakfield over the period of 25 yrs and now my great grandson has just started. My youngest grand daughter has just started yr4 and is doing well with the support of sen staff. Be a shame for her to lose that support and for the school to close.

My children both went to Oakfield and excelled there, why close such a good and much needed school

Sue Hallett (Ryde, 2024-09-07)

As this is an amazing school with dedicated staff Supporting vulnerable children in one of the countries most depraved areas.

Closing this school will impacted so many children's lives.

Many families aren't in the position to own a car and public transport is a joke on the Island so how will the children travel to school nearest school is too far for small children to walk.

Louise Roe (Southampton, 2024-09-07)

I would like to support this school and my friend who works there.

Angela Russell (Vale, 2024-09-07)

I am signing this petition because the children need this school. They have the right of smaller classes. Why should the council make this decision. They have already messed with the school system with departmental consequences to the children's education. So many have left to home school due to this decision to have a two teir now they want to reck it more. Money grabbing. Talk to the children they should have a say

My eldest attended Oakfield and, two of my other children currently attend Oakfield and my last child is in the nursery. This school is a family, all of the children there have grown up around each other and siblings have passed through together knitting our community together. The school needs to remain, this generation of children have already suffered enough through COVID breaks in education without the adverse effects being forced to move schools and be spread far and wide from all those they know will have on their young minds and educational needs.

Sarah Woodman (Ryde, 2024-09-07)

All my children went to oakfield and so did I and it's a lovely little school this must stay open 🙏

Christine Harris (Ryde, 2024-09-07)

My friends children attend this school and they has thrived here. It's a central school for this large town and some of the children who will he forced to atewjd other schools have already fallen victims to covid regulations meaning they missed a lot of their reception education and again will be hugely impacted by this closure.

Donna Bellamy (Isle of wight, 2024-09-07)
